Outline of Lecture Course

[Course Contents]

Through analysis of processes of the Universal Periodical Review (UPR) before the UN Human Rights Council (HRC, or Council) relating to (North and South) East Asian Countries, we will discuss the histories and basis of their current political systems.

Course Objectives

Getting some basic skill to have access to UN human rights documents

Learning how relevant are those materials provided through UPR process in analysis of basis of political systems in (North and South) East Asia

Discussing the history and future of political systems in (North and South) East Asia

Prerequisites It is highly recommended that participants already have got or soon get basic knowledge about international human rights, and UN human rights system

Instructions for Out-of-Class Study Prepare for each class by previewing new materials

Other Notes This seminar is jointly organized with Professional Studies in International Human Rights Law. You cannot enroll both of the courses in the same semester.
