Outline of Lecture Course We learn basics of elementary social statistics in preparation for studying econometrics. The emphasis will be on understanding the assumptions associated with various statistical tests and linear regression analysis, so that students can correctly interpret the results. This course will cover statistical inferences involving one population and linear regression analysis (or ordinary least squares, OLS). This course aims to foster the basic analytical ability

Textbooks Textbook: Johnson, R., Kuby, P., 2012. Elementary Statistics, International edition of the 11th revised edition, Cengage Learning.
Course Materials/Supplementaries
Assessment Evaluation will be based on quiz given at the beginning of each class (30%), a mid-term examination (30%), and the final examination (40%). The course withdrawal request scheme does not apply to this course, and “absent” will be given to students who do not take the final exam.
Prerequisites Students are responsible for the materials covered in Introductory Econometrics I.
Other Notes Course slides will be posted on NUCT. The textbook will be available at the university bookstore with a special discount for students.
